Fall fun

Fall colors are appearing everywhere. I decided to go at our yard and shoot some autumn leaves. And guess what? I took my oldest digital camera with me. Leica Digilux 2. I did so even if the weather was cloudy and it was raining lightly. But this camera shoots so nice close-ups. Well, they are nice if you’ll get the focus right and it is not so easy with this camera. Autofocus is very slow and it does not have focus peaking assisting manual focusing. After all I managed to get some decent shots. Fall colors are so beautiful even if I am longing for the summer quite much. Soon we will have snow…

Too many things to do

Pink evening clouds, originally uploaded by Jonne Naarala.

I have to say that I have neglected photography lately. I’ve been too busy all the time. I think I should try to use my iPhone more in situations like this because iPhone is always with me and it is capable in taking nice shots.

My wife started in her job again (she is a midwife in university hospital) after three years at home. Her work is in three shifts so this is sometimes little bit demanding situation with Kaapo’s pre-school and Tiitus’ child-care.

Tomorrow we are celebrating Kaapo’s and Tiitus’ combined birthday parties. Kaapo will be 6 and Tiitus 3 years old.

Leaves, leaves, leaves

Soon they’ll throw snowballs! We have already had some minus degrees (C) in the night time and some mornings have been quite “crispy”. Haven’t had so much time for photographing that I’d wanted though.

Little Dumbo

Yeah, that’s our little Dumbo playing ball with his dad, Hiski. Alpo is very fast moving little fellow even if the lawn is quite high as you see.

It is so much fun to watch them play together but almost impossible to photograph because of their fast pace.

Mushroom by new Instagram

Above pic was shot by the camera of iPhone 4 and after that processed in Instagram v2.0. New tilt-shift system seems to be way better than the old one and I like the possibility to use high-res photos. Also the live filters during the shooting are very cool.

A red berry

Autumn has arrived in its full power. It is quite chilly and rainy now. But autumn provides nice photo opportunities with all fall colors, mushrooms etc.

I am very pleased on Fuji X100’s close-up capabilities. Macro mode works well and it is possible to use back button to focus if using MF focusing (the focus ring in the lens is totally unusable). Above pic is shot using available light but if you need fill flash the X100 is very handy to provide some additional light automatically. Flash shots are very natural looking. I think X100’s flash is the best in-camera flash I have encountered.
