I have never understood how Flickr Explore picks up the photos which will be presented in the Explore photostream. And I do not actually care. All I can say that it is a lovely system because you can get casual everyday snapshots in Explore. The shot below is a very good example of that. Just my son Tiitus helping me out with the firewood. It is a great memory and actually an exploration of life for Tiitus. Maybe that is why it was in Explore.
This very quick snapshot of Tiitus has got 2000 views in two days in Flickr. My other much older shots are not even close to that sum. Of course I have the best model in the world and he has a pleasing little smile in it. Sigma DP2M has some magic in the shots it produces. Super detailed and sharp with nice 3D look and quite nice bokeh too. Sharpness is so high that I had to smoothen his cheeks little bit.
Found these little fellows from our backyard. This is shot at ISO 3200 in very dimly lit woods. The result is not bad, I think. Of course there is noise but it is quite pleasing in appereance and color tones are nicely produced even at high ISOs. This is one of the main things which make Fuji X100 to shine. I can use auto ISO all the time and not to worry about noise or color rendering.
And this is just a very quick snapshot. Handheld. Not any planning before shooting. Just shoot. Aperture mode f/5.6, auto ISO, no flash. JPEG.
