We have had very summerish weather and temperature for about a week now. It is so wonderful to have some warmness and lots of light after a long winter.
This shot was taken with Asahi Pentax Super-Takumar 55mm F1.8 lens at F16. I think the lens performs nicely for a lens from 1960’s.
This morning it was -23 C still so it seems that our spring is not starting very soon. Although sunshine is somehow warming up already but it is not intense enough to melt the snow if the base temp is so low. I am now counting spring all those days when we will not get any new snow. I think that is a very good rule now and gives nice spring feeling at least.
The birches in our yard were so stunningly beautiful yesterday morning. Frost was so pure white and it was flickering nicely in the sunshine. Sky was totally blue without any clouds. The air smelled spring even if we still have some 75 cm snow everywhere.
Today we are not having any blue skies. Dark clouds are over us and we are having a heavy snow fall at the moment.
It was a very dull weather yesterday and I went shooting in our yard. I looked in the forest at our backyard and took few shots of the woods. Even if the forest looks very gloomy, I like the result what I got. The photo delivers exactly the feeling I was having at that very moment. And actually those tree trunks are very beautiful if you just want to see their beauty.
This winter has been very snowy and lately also very cold one. Snow everywhere plus -37 C is a cool combo. Well, actually we are very much used to this kind of a weather but because our winter lasts almost six months you have to complain at least littlebit in some point. 😉
I really think that we have got enough snow for this winter. But it is still so long way to go to the spring time. You see our sons’ playhouse in the pic and I have already once cleared out the snow from its roof.
We do not have any super heavy snow falls in Finland (not usually more than 20 cm in one fall) but as we have freezing temps constantly for five months the snow really accumulates.
We are having our own “half-pipe” on our front yard steps. We have got lots of snow already this winter and there are at least two (or two and half) months winter left at the moment. So, in the end of March this half-pipe will be a huge one. Just take your snowboards out!
It would be so nice to be dining like that now but it is snow, snow, snow at the moment. This morning there were really demanding driving conditions on the roads. Lots of snow (packed by heavy wind gusts) flying around. It was so difficult to see anything behind other cars. But of course we are used to winter driving conditions in Finland, so that helps a lot.
